Situated in Loire-Atlantique about 17 km from Saint-Nazaire, the municipality of La Turballe faces the sea and earns its living mainly from fishing, with tourism and sailing as additional sources of income.
       Its major commitment to the maritime economy explains its desire to maintain the direct management of its port.

It has obtained the following concessions:

  • for fishing in December 1983 for a period of 30 years.
  • for marina facilities in February 1986 for a period of 40 years.

Characteristics of the port

       With map reference SHOM 7033, the port's co-ordinates are 47° 20', 7 N - 02° 31', 8 N.
      The surface area of water is 67,201 m_, dry land facilities cover 60,000 m_.
      For several years, his fishing activity, it provides for inclusion in the first fishing port of Pays de la Loire.

       Management of the two port concessions is provided directly by the municipality of La Turballe under similar conditions, by means of two agencies, which are not legal entities but are both financially autonomous.

      The port staff comprises 20 fisheries officers and 2 permanent staff for the marina facilities.

      The port has, since 2008, a technical area of 2500 m2 equipped with a lift of 32 T and a lift of 230 T (boating and fishing).

They provide the direct services below:

Fishing:

  • Sale of fish by auction.
  • Collection of fees, invoicing, statistics on transactions
  • Routine maintenance of equipment and buildings.
  • Production and distribution of crushed ice (max. capacity of 100 Tonnes/day).
  • Handling of boats up to 230 Tonnes. .

Marina

  • Maintenance of marina, 345 moorings on pontoons accessible 24 hrs a day.
  • Reception and collection of fees from passengers (approximately 60 boats per day in summer).
  • Operation of a 2,5 tonne self-propelled elevator.
